Sixers star Joel Embiid has been discharged from a Houston hospital and is heading back to Philadelphia, with the team saying there is no set timeline for his return to the court.

Joel Embiid has been diagnosed with appendicitis and underwent successful surgery on Thursday afternoon in Houston. Embiid has appeared in 38 games this season, averaging 26.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 31.6 minutes. Embiid has a PER of 24.5. NBA players have roughly needed two to three weeks to recover from an appendectomy before returning to game action.
