Enes Kanter and Royce White have both recently confirmed they are declaring for the 2027 WNBA draft. Kanter and White’s declarations came after the debate around whether transgender women should be allowed to compete was sparked by comments made by Sophie Cunningham.
Much of the chatter around the WNBA right now is not focused on the on-court action, but rather on the debate about transgender athletes competing in the sport. Enes Kanter and Royce White have already declared for the 2027 draft, while Kanter also recently suggested that two more former NBA players could potentially declare as well if the WNBA does not change their rules.
Sophie Cunningham kick-started the debate around whether or not transgender athletes should be able to compete in the WNBA. Royce White and Enes Kanter have since declared for the 2027 WNBA draft, though it remains to be seen if the league would allow them to be drafted.
