Saddiq Bey scored 42 points, Zion Williamson had 20 and the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Utah Jazz 129-118 on Thursday night to open a two-game set. The teams will meet again in Salt Lake City on Saturday night. The Pelicans, who opened a six-game trip, have won three straight and five of seven to improve to 18-42.

Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen will be re-evaluated in two weeks after an MRI on his hip Thursday, sources told ESPN, making him the latest Utah player to be sidelined with an injury.

Keegan Murray left the Sacramento Kings' 128-97 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night in the first quarter with an ankle injury. It is the same ankle that Murray injured on January 4. Murray missed 20 games before returning last week. Kings coach Doug Christie had no updates on Murray's injury. Murray is averaging 14.0 points and 5.7 rebounds on the year.
