Keyonte George will be an assistant coach on Steve Wojciechowski's staff for the Utah Jazz's Summer League for one game. So, about those 53 points. For the third time in WNBA history, a player scored 53 points in a single game that ended in regulation, with the latest addition maybe the most surprising of the bunch. The Toronto Tempo’s Marina Mabrey, who has never even made an All-Star team, lit up the Los Angeles Sparks in a 125-97 win Friday by making 17 of 28 from the floor and 10 of 12 free throws, tying A’ja Wilson and Liz Cambage for the highest-scoring game in league history. Yahoo Sports NBA, High-authority source3 months agoNBA logoNBA

Give Mike Gansey a pinch of credit for his acknowledgment of the most obvious part of the condition of the franchise as he takes over — kind of, sort of — the 76ers. “It’s not a championship caliber team right now,” Gansey said. Gansey is already at work as Philadelphia’s latest president of basketball operations, trying to find ways to raise the team to a championship level, while deeply hindered by near-untradeable, unwanted contracts tied to aging and unreliable Joel Embiid and Paul George.

The Chicago Sky defeated the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, but they lost Rickea Jackson in the process. A little over a month ago, Chicago acquired Jackson from the Los Angeles Sparks in exchange for two-time All-Star and Olympic gold medalist Ariel Atkins. It was a clear sign that Chicago wanted to ...
