The core of Hoopsmachine is grouping articles about the same story together. We’ve made that significantly better.
Smarter matching
We now use a multi-step process to decide if two articles are about the same story. If the match is obvious, it’s automatic. If it’s a close call, we double-check by looking at which teams and players are mentioned. This means fewer wrong groupings while still catching stories that different outlets frame differently.
Cleaner feed
Sports news sites often mix in gambling content: betting picks, parlays, sportsbook promos. That’s not basketball news. We now automatically filter that out so it never clutters your feed.
We’ve also gotten stricter about what makes it into the feed in general. If we’re not confident an article is primarily about basketball, we skip it. The result is a feed that’s consistently on-topic.
Topic tags
Every story now gets tagged: trade, signing, injury, draft, coaching, highlights, and more. Browse by topic from the navigation to find exactly what you’re interested in.
